Presidents week end at the Beach

A great week end was had by all in Ocean City, Md. Frank, Debbie, Linda and Jim headed to the beach Friday Morning. Stopped in Elkton, Md for lunch and than we were beach bound. Oh, almost forgot we had to stop on the way for Frank to buy his breakfast SCRAPAL, it is to gross to worry how to spell it.

Firday night Lori and Mindy arrived, we went to Dumpsers for Dinner and Ice Cream. Sat was shopping day for the ladies. Frank and I went geocaching, (see other post). Saturday night was dinner time at Waterman's. Sunday the men and ladies were on our own again. Dinner was at J R's Ribs. Monday was a stop at Rehboth outlets and than returned home.

We had an outstanding dinner waiting for us at the Greenwood house prepared by the one and only Jose. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!!!!!!!!!

Spent the holiday week end in Ocean City, Md. Saturday and Sunday did a little geacaching in and around Ocean City, Md and Rehobeth Beach, De. Got "Storming Frank" all excited about a new hobby.

We are back home from the Bay after a few days of relaxing at the pool at Bowleys Marina. With the weather in question we did not boat anywhere from Tues to Sat.
HOPE THESE PICTURES SHOW JUST A VERY SLIGHT PART OF OUR TRIP TO NEW YORK, 96 OF 650 PICTURES.

Cooperstown, NY Trip

On Thursday morning Aug 12 Dodge Caliber with Linda, my great nephew Hunter & I left Lancaster County behind for a trip to The National Baseball Hall of Fame.

We picked up Hunter at 7:00 am. The drive north to New York went great and we were in Cooperstown about 1:00 PM. After finding our motel, Lake n Pines, we returned to Cooperstown to check it out and plan our visit. First stop was lunch, then were entered the baseball hero's "Wax Museum". Hunter was impressed by the figures and there history. To name a few: Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Roberto Clemente, Joe DiMaggio, (I know I can't spell), Joe Torre, Pete Rose, and many more. we also watched an inning of a game at Double Day Field.

We checked out a few of the shops on Main St. Hunter was interested in getting baseball cards with the money he had along. he did wait til Friday to get some after we were in the hall itself. We returned to the motel for a swim in both the outside and inside swimming pools & hot tub. than dinner and bed time.

Friday was busy. We were in the hall of fame from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Very cool place to see and read all the history (Thanks a million Dennis). Hunter was mostly interested in the Yankees & Phillies items. But all is to had to explain. The Hall of the plaques is just breath taking.

After our visit to the hall we needed lunch again. While eating lunch I asked Hunter if thought he would like a baseball bat with his name on it, His eyed got big and he shook his head "Yes". We went to the bat company and he picked a bat and we had "Hunter Reed #2 & Warwick Little League" put on it. Also, Mindy need one. Her Bat has "Mindy Reed, Sec & LBBBC" on it

Saturday Morning we headed to Marcy, NY to visit Linda's cousin and he family. Kay and Mike Sandbrook. Hunter had a swim in there pool to cool off. Than it was off to the local Zoo, That past about an hour and an half. We returned to Kay's house to pick up Mike. We were off to their Son's house for dinner. Doug, wife Deb, so David and daughter Danielle were waiting for us.

On the way to their house we did stop by Lock 20 on the Erie Canal, neat thing to see.

After dinner were went and played miniature golf. we saw about 15 deer in the fields while driving. then is was back to Kay and Mike's to rest for the drive home Sunday.

It took from 10:10 am til 5:30 pm to get to Lititz. 1 hour to go about 5 miles on rt 81 in north Pa. After retuning Hunter home Linda & I went to Millersville to the Greenwood home for Pizza and an evening of talk and socializing.

Great trip of about 750 miles.
Linda and I are now on the boat (Tues PM), we are going somewhere tomorrow on the boat but didn't decide where yet.

Just returned home from a 4 day boat trip. Linda and I left Bowleys Marina and went to Rock Hall,Md for there "Pirates & Wenches Fantasy Weekend". As Always we stayed at North Point Marina. All the permanent slip holders wonder why we don't stay there.

The car drive would be longer than to the Middle River and it is more fun to run the boat and visit!

Another week has gone by. Other than mowing the lawn, did not do maney chores this past week.

Last week-end, Frank & Debbie Greenwood, Lori Bator, Deb & Dan Ranck, Mindy & I traveled to Waldorf, Md to see the Barnstormers play the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. "Stormers won the game in 13 innings. Than Sunday we drove to Hagerstown, Md to see The Hagerstown Suns play. Game was rained out but we did get to talk to and visit with their Manager, Matt LeCroy, he played in Lancaster last year. Very neat week-end trip.

Monday and last night(Wednesday) Linda and I we in Lancaster at games. After the game last night we drove to Bowleys Marina to the boat. Arrived about 12:45 am. Slept in til 8:30 and than got ready and came accross the Bay to Rock Hall,Md. Had lunch and a nap and now it is time for supper.

Will let you all know how the rest of the week goes

First Month of Retirement

WOW ! The first month of retirement just flew by.

With a quick update and than must "Run", Ya Right

Linda and Mindy suprised me with a birthday/retirement party on June 14th at the old Penryn Fire Hall. Many friends, relitives travels some mile to visit the old guy. Won't try to mention everyone but two couples travled a long way. Kay & Mike Sanbrook from upstate New York, Bob and Verna Bollinger from Mifflin county Pa. (Big suprise). Also Fire Company friends, Barnstormer friends and former work mates. Very cool time I hope was had by all

After the Last day of work it was off for a week on the boat. Again a wonderful time with family and friends. Linda, Ken & Sherry, Mike & Donna. Also Mike and Donna's son Josh and his friend Liz were with us for part of the week.

Upon returning home I had to get some chores done on Doe Run Rd. Lawn Mowing, New mail box and post, repair some landscape logs near the garage. Did some woodworking and kept busy so far. Of course ther were Barnstormer games. We were at the Atlantic League All-Star game in Newark, De in June and Linda & I went at an Aberdeen Ironbirds game in July.

Busy week-end of baseball traveling coming up this week-end. Will try to keep blog updated better from now on. Also will see if I came move some pictures here.

Just an update on the happenings since last post.

Linda and I spent time on Hubbys Hobby the week end of 6/13 & 14. Saturday Honeys Money and Hubbys Hobby went to Still POnd for the after noon. We were relaxing until the sky started to blacken. At that time we headed back to Bowleys for the evening. It is a good thing we did,

a thunder storm did go through the area, we were safe in our own slips.

I was told that Sunday we need to be back in Manheim for a picnic for Gerry Geib. Well, Mindy & Linda, with the help of the Geibs, Rancks and Sanbrooks had the old Penryn Fire Hall set up for a surprise Retirement and Birthday party for me. Yes, They pulled one over on me this time. I did get a hint when Mindy would not return phone calls to me on Sunday.

Than this past week end 6/20 & 21 Mindy went along to the boat for the week end. We had rain on Saturday am. So we some rounds in the van. We went to the Glenn Martin aircraft museum at the Martin State Airport in the afternoon. The museum is near our marina.

After the visit to the museum we need some dinner. We found the Sue Creek Dock Bar and Crabhouse. we had wings and steamed crabs. Than back to the boat.

Sunday brought "Small Craft Warnings" on the bay. We decided to go to a baseball game between the Hagerstown Suns & the Delmarva Shorebirds. it took about 2 hours to get there from the marina. We watched the game and headed home about 5:00 pm. we did get to see two former Barnstormers, Matt LeCroy and Ryan Minor. It was a great day for baseball. We arrived home about 10:00 pm and 160 miles from the ball park to Doe Run Road.

I was suprised with a new boat name

The crew of Hubbys Hubby was at Bowley's Marina on Friday night May 22 to get ready for a weekend cruise to Rock Hall, MD.
We arrived at about 7:00 pm and were treated to an outstanding sunset. Saturday morning one menmber of our cruise trio "Enckors Away" headed for the repair shop on the Back River, The crew of "Honeys Money" pick them up and also headed to Rock Hall.
Hubbys Hobby arrived at North point Marina at about 10:00 am and Honeys Money got there at about 12: noon.

A very relaxing day for all, not to mention Donna went swimming in the Back River, (uck). After nursing her finger back to an acceptable condition the rest of the day went better. Mike, Donna, Linda and I walked into Rock Hall in the afternoon. About the same town as last year except we noticed three restaurants have closed. We made our needed stop at the drug store for ice cream. I had the largest Waffle cone with about 6 of 7 dips of Raspberry Ice cream in it I ever did see. I asked for 2 dips and the lady said "You tell me the flavor I will deside how many dips of Ice Cream you get".

We returned to the marina and relaxed. That is when we saw the strange, pointed and colored clouds.

Sunday Mike and Donna's family visited and a good time was had by all. Hightlight of Sunday was the evening meal of eating Hard Shelled Crabs. Outstanding as usual from J & J Seafood in Rock Hall.

Monday the return cruise to Bowleys and then the drive home went well for all. Til next time, later Capt JR

Mindy (daughter) and I went to the marina on Saturday 5/16. We took Hubbys Hobby out for the frist run of the season. Needles to say there was a stop at the fuel dock before the run. We ran out to Hart-Miller Island and than headed back in the Middle River in the fog. Everything
seemed to work normal. Than Minno and I stopped at the Landing Strip for lunch and made it back to Lancaster by 4:00 pm for batting practice at the Clip and the game later in the evening.
